Sword Fights on the Heights IV

Sword Fights on the Heights IV is a competitive Roblox fighting game created by Shedletsky in 2008. It became one of the platform’s most recognizable classic titles and helped define early Roblox combat.

Matches take place on suspended platforms connected by narrow bridges. Players fight using a variety of swords, each with different effects and handling.

Gameplay

The objective is simple: defeat other players and stay on the platforms. Falling results in instant death, but players respawn quickly. There is no objective apart from FFA and getting the best KDR if you're cool enough.

The swords have 2 types of damage: base and lunge damage. Base damage is the amount done upon contact; lunge damage occurs when the wielder double-clicks to swing the sword forward, dealing much more damage.

The best way to deal damage is to lunge your sword while shaking your character to hit the opponent multiple times quickly.

Swords

Each sword in the game has its own behavior and strategy.

• Linked Sword — the standard sword used by all players.
• Illumina — launches you perfectly up and reveals cloaked players.
• Venomshank — applies poison damage over time.
• Darkheart — heals you 40% of the damage you dealt.
• Ghostwalker — grants low gravity and transparency, kills increase transparancy on all but hats until the 9th kill.
• Windforce — knocks opponents away on contact.
• Firebrand — immune to IceDagger.
• IceDagger — freezes and kills players after a short cooldown.

Items

Each item has unique uses.

• Medkit — quickly restores health.
• Shadowsphere — grants full invisibility temporarily.
• Shieldsphere — grants invincibility temporarily.
• Touchstone — teleports the user to the locus.
• Battle-armor — doubles the user's health.

Streak

Streaking is the practice of getting the highest amount of KOs without getting a single WO.
The best way to streak is by getting GhostWalker level 9 and switching to Venomshank at the last moment to KO somebody then proceding to quickly use ShieldSphere.
As of 2020 it is no longer the best method.
Now the best way is to use the new illumina flight tech to fly over people and falling onto somebody with the new overpowered Windforce and then instantly touchstone.

Community

The SFotH:IV community is very small but dedicated, we have seen legends come and go over the 12 years the game has existed. most players join roblox groups to see whats going on.

The Big 4:

• SFotH:Legends — The most active SFotH group, most legends are in here.
• SwordFighters of SFotH — Also a popular group, kind of died off after it was botted and used to host scam tournaments.
• SFotH Council — a new age SFotH group created in 2020 after Shedletsky returned to revive the game a little with updates.
• Pwners for life — oldest SFotH group and still active.

Exploits

Various exploits existed that allowed players to bypass combat limitations, clip through the map, or instantly remove the respawn forecield. Most known uses of exploits were to instantly kill all players on the map, get custom emotes, have a larger sword hitbox, remove their own hitbox, or transform the map into whatever they want (pre-2015).

Glitches

Glitches included sword duplication, map clipping, and physics oddities. Players often used these unintentionally, creating funny or chaotic moments.

examples and how to do all that I know (which is a lot) also mostly PC only:

Infinite FF: Drop a Shieldsphere then pick it back up and quickly unequip it and equip it so it falls from your hand, then just use sphere and you are now immortal.
Moon gravity: Do the same method you use with the shieldsphere but use it with a Ghostwalker
Smooth criminal lean: Do the same method you use with the shieldsphere but with a Touchstone at the bottom of the escalator at the purple portal and go up it when it falls from your hand and use it, you should now be stuck facing a single direction. Now you go to the escalator at the purple portal and go up it, you should now be leaning forwards.
Superglide: Do the same method you use with the Smooth criminal lean and bring a Ghostwalker and Illumina, then you need to keep using the escalator until you ragdoll at the right angle where you can lunge with the illumina and quickly switch to your Ghostwalker where you should glide super fast and super far.
BTP (without exploits): Stand next to one of the trusses near the IceDagger stand, After waiting a while you should start floating in place where you now just need to use the touchstone to teleport the entire map with you. And voila! You have now destroyed the map permanently you asshole..
Speedjump: unequip any item and make sure you are not shiftlocked, do "/e dance2" then equip and use shiftlock very fast while jumping diagonally backwards on the greatest extent of your arms, once you get the angle right you should start jumping and moving backwards at a faster speed.
Shoplock: as long as you have the shop open it is impossible to be moved, you can even do this midair to float in place. Just remember to use backslash once you close the shop so you can move again.
white skin: If you get poisoned by a venomshank and you use a medkit at the right time your skin will be white.
green skin: If you get poisoned by a venomshank and you use a medkit at the right time your skin will be green.
double up: get a darkheart and do the invisable sword glitch, get another player to pick it up and at the perfect time re-equip it and you should have a player attached to your sword while you hold it.
float forever: Do the same method you use with the shieldsphere but with any sword and time your lunge right.
Anti-Ice: tab out while frozen and tab back in at the right time to survive an IceDagger
DestroyFF do the infinite shieldsphere bug while standing behind somebody with infiniteFF, there will be a short time where their protection resets and you can kill them. The timing is very very hard to do though and doesnt work if the infiniteFF user doesn't have a sword out.
anti-abyss: at the start of the game simply go in and out of the abyss portal a few times until it says the place is restricted.
Can't really give this one a name: activate the float forever bug underneath the woodreviewer island and drop 1 darkheart and a ghostwalker, then reset character and go back to the island and knock over the wood creature, the peices of wood should freak out and launch in all direction, often launching you deep into the floating point zone.
break john badge: get several alternate accounts to touch the "john loved of muses" badge at the same time and it should stop working for the server.
break any spawner (without exploits): do the infiniteFF bug with any item the MILLISECOND it spawns in and it should stop working forever.

Events

Official and community-run events were frequent, from dueling tournaments to map-building contests. These events often influenced the game's popularity and gameplay trends, but official events existed too. the most well known event is the percy jackson event which was known as one of the worst events in history (until Roblox started their metaverse phase lol)

Oddities

Lesser-known facts:::

"HACK SFotH:" This was a badge created around 2015 which gave you admin powers for 30 robux and was later removed in September of 2015 after abuse (obviously)
"Abyss:" The abyss is a place you will be teleported to after entering the purple portal near the ladder. The abyss features a podium in a dark galaxy sky with a floating board which whispers very cryptic phrases with a sign saying "review me" on it, This is a direct reference to woodreviewer (woodreviewerrbx.com) He's funny check him out!!!
"Grave island:" This is a floating island off in the corner of the map, This is also a reference to woodreviewer.
"Touch the divine:" This was a badge only obtainable by using cheats, all users who got the badge would be banned from the game but it was later removed after people figured out how to get it without cheats.
"Medkit:" in march 2025 the model for the medkit was changed from a red cross to a green cross. this is because the red cross foundation complained that their logo was being misused, the red cross is a group created to provide international humanitarian aid such as disaster support and health services to refugees.
